Days Gone by
In 1975, Wendel Lee opened his first retail store on a foundation of providing quality products and affordable design solutions that customers loved. Through the years, that first retail store expanded to 4 locations with the guiding hand of Wendel’s son David and David’s wife Lisa.
Powered by family since the beginning, we’ve always maintained a strong foundation of family and community values, which supported us throughout the many changes that came our way. As part of Art Van PureSleep, we committed to carrying on the legacy of Archie “Art” Van Eslander with the same pledge to those core principles. You could rely on us for the best, deep sleep support in the tri-cities region of central Michigan then and you still can!

After bidding a fond goodbye to the Art Van family, we are excited to introduce you to the Big Sandy Superstore family. Founded in 1953 by Robert W. Van Hoose Sr. with a $1000 loan from his wonderful wife Lorna, Big Sandy Superstore has grown by leaps and bounds, serving customers with an award-winning commitment to excellence. We are eager to become a part of this growth and to keep on delivering you unbeatable customer satisfaction that you’ve always counted on!
Still located in our 4,000 sq. ft. showroom on Eastman Ave., we promise to continue to supply the seat of Midland County with the same faithfulness to expertise you’re used to. We are pleased to still be your go-to bedding and mattress store!
