Those of us who routinely prepare family meals at home are always looking for something to enhance the cooking experience—whether that means making cooking easier, quicker, or more delicious. The Frigidaire Air Fry Range and the LG Electric Range with Air Fry— the first ranges on the market to include Air Fry—are aiming to do all of the above, allowing you to make healthier and delicious meals for the entire family.
Air Fry is a unique cooking method that uses a surge of highly concentrated hot air to “fry” your food. It acts as a supercharged convection system that cooks food from the outside-in. It requires less oil and fat, which reduces your calorie intake by 70 to 80 percent. Whether you can admit it or not, almost every type of food tastes better when it’s fried, and Air Fry is a healthier solution that allows you to enjoy fried foods without the guilt.
The Air Fryer’s Versatility
When you pan fry or deep-fried foods, you are fully submerging them in lots of hot oil, but with an air frying range, you can still achieve those crispy, golden brown results with little or no oil. Not only can you make carnival classics and finger foods, but it’s also great for fancy appetizers like croquettes and crostini, vegetables, whole chickens, and fresh-baked desserts like chocolate chip cookies and brownies.
The LG Air Fry range has its own versatile operation with the InstaView door—allowing you to you check the cooking progress without ever opening the door or reaching over a hot cooktop to flip a switch. Just knock twice on the window to turn on the oven light. There is no need to purchase an additional gadget to take up space on your counter—the air frying range does it all.
Why It Works
Once again, think of air frying as your convection setting in a different outfit. It cooks at very high temperatures while simultaneously circulating dry air around the food—preparing and crisping your meal much faster without the need for any extra fat.
The same way you would change your oven’s setting from a traditional pre-heat to convection, Air Fry can now be a part of your range with a setting that is specifically designed for heating fried foods in far less time than a standard countertop deep fryer. No more messy oil, pools of grease, or splash burns—an Air Fry oven range is the solution to easier and healthier fried delectables.
Fried Favorites
Now that you know how Frigidaire and LG air frying oven ranges work, it’s time to elevate your favorite fried cuisine! Let’s look at a few classic items you can’t go without:
French Fries
You can enjoy delicious, crispy, and crunchy Air Fry french fries that taste just like your favorite restaurant’s, but a healthier version that you can feel good serving to your family. No more frozen fries—these homemade spuds come out perfectly golden and crisp with just one tablespoon of oil.
Cut your potatoes in half lengthwise and cut into ¼-inch slices. After you rinse them under cold water, toss the fries with oil and sprinkle with salt and pepper. Place the fries on a baking sheet or Frigidaire Air Fry Tray and fry at 350 degrees for about 10 minutes, turning halfway through. Then, set the partially cooked fries out to cool and dry. Increase the temperature to 425 degrees, add more seasoning and oil, and put the fries back into the range to cook for 15-25 minutes (or until the texture is to your liking). Once they’re done, sprinkle with a little more salt and serve with your favorite dipping sauce.
Hot Dogs
Don’t you just love a hot dog cooked on the grill? Well, even during the fall, you can enjoy this summertime staple when cooked in your air frying range. It’s fast, easy, and there is no grill to heat up, water to boil, or splattering in a pan—so it’s virtually mess-free. Just toss them in for five to eight minutes at 390 degrees and you’ve got the perfectly snappy Air Fry hot dogs. No oil is required for these hot dogs, and it’s a tasty and simple meal you can prepare anytime.
When your dogs are ready, you can take them out and put them into buns—then drop them back into the range to cook for one to two more minutes so the bun can get nice and toasty warm. This makes the outside nice and crispy and leaves that juicy hotdog waiting for you in the middle.
And don’t forget your toppings—cheese can be added to melt perfectly on top, or you can serve with classic condiments and toppings such as mustard, relish, onions, or chili.
Pumpkin Seeds
Since it’s autumn, we had to switch it up and surprise you with something a little unorthodox. While roasted pumpkin seeds are a fall-favorite snack food, you probably wouldn’t have thought to include them in the world of Air Fry culinary creations.
It’ time for pumpkin seeds to say hello to their new best friend. The air frying oven range is an easy way to get those little seeds baked to crispy perfection. A traditional baking method could take about an hour to complete, but you’ll save plenty of time using the Air Fry setting. We won't discuss carving the pumpkin and removing the seeds—we’ll leave that part up to you.
But once the seeds are removed and you’ve set your pumpkin carving to the side, rinse the seeds well and cover with layers of paper towels to remove any excess moisture. Place the seeds on an Air Fry tray to dry, preheat the oven to 350 degrees, and get your seasoning ready. Transfer seeds to a bowl and mix with a splash of avocado oil, salt, pepper, and paprika for a little kick. These will still cook low and slow (for Air Fry standards) for 35 minutes, but be sure to check them periodically and give the seeds a good mix—they can go from perfectly cooked to blackened very fast.
